Iran Claims Assault on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some structural damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
