Nigel Farage Accuses Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics
The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike within weeks a success at the polls for his party, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by instructing students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
During an event for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his viewpoint on the UK education system, claiming that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.
“I’m anticipating a walkout by educators soon after securing a victory,” he remarked during a Q&A session.
“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They inform little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They promote this harmful mindset.”
Reacting to these assertions, the head of a major education union rejected the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these immediately upon entering government.
“The politician has crafted his political career on dog-whistle politics and now, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a conflict,” the union leader said.
“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for students and learning.”
Reform, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and seems not to have designated an education lead.
However, Farage’s remarks indicated the group would reform the educational framework. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with education – truly monumental. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”
Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Paying tribute to a conservative activist, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to teach critical thinking – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and they should decide for themselves as opposed to what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”
Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
The politician has charged Kebede of being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted through education, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.
Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.
National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in schools and extensive missed instruction for students.
At the US event, Farage also vowed to promote the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He stated such groups were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I mean this. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to your online courses. I pledge this now and I will follow through.”
The college, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. According to its online description: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for free to every interested learner.”
