Several Affected as Rough Air Hits Delta Aircraft Landing at Sydney, Australia

Multiple passengers and crew were hurt following a Delta aircraft originating in LA to Sydney encountered significant turbulence Friday morning.

Flight DL41 "encountered brief turbulence" as it landed at the Sydney airport, a company official informed. A number of the onboard staff were injured.

The New South Wales Ambulance Service reported they evaluated a total of five people, and took three to a medical facility with relatively minor issues that comprised pain in the back and headaches. Those affected spanned from their thirties and seventies.

This marks the most recent case of planes encountering atmospheric disturbance, with aviation specialists saying that shifting climate patterns is a key driver.

On board were 245 passengers and fifteen staff members on the aircraft, the representative added, clarifying that the plane landed "safely" at Sydney Airport at 06:48 local time on Friday.

Emergency responders said they were alerted just a mere three minutes prior to the plane landed, and response teams were standing by on the runway.
